What I don't like is how the power is de-rated as the battery depletes.
...
What are you guys doing in regards the de-rating settings, and is there much room to safely change these things?
Power (W) is A x V. As battery depletes, power goes down so with 1/2 battery bike will not have the same power as fully charged
My bike was quite sluggish yesterday with a strong wind against me and half a battery.

I've been thinking about this again.

I don't know, I don't think that's right, about the voltage dropping.

The magnetic force from a coil is a function of the current, not the voltage.

The controller doesn't put the battery voltage on the motor (at least, not at lower speeds). It switches the battery voltage on and off into a bridge, until it delivers some level of phase current into the motor.

So, I don't see why the power drops off with voltage.

Am I missing something?

Maybe.
Force and power are not identical with speed!

The max. rotation speed of the motor is a function of the voltage you can provide (usually = battery voltage) and determined by it's design.

So the speed that you can achieve with a fully charged battery is higher than with a half full battery.
Classico Li 05/2020 11 000+ km & Z-Odin 12/2021 31 500+ km
